Dear friends and readers, I would like to share this piece of good news with you that I am in the Top 10 Finalists for Best Travel Blog in Singapore Blog awards 2013. WoAahhhHhhh… *Jumping with Joy*  It is really nice to be recognized for something I have been blogging for close to 2 years. When I started this blog in November 2011, I was hoping that I can win some awards for my blog and maybe get sponsored for my overseas trips one day (Dream on right..haha :p)

The award winner is determined by a combination of public votes (30%) and scoring by judges (70%). The themed challenge is already out and I have to write a blog entry on something/someone from/about the 60’s that inspires me which is set in line with the 60s Fever theme this year. The deadline is 9 June 2013 and I only have about 9 days left to brainstorm about the topic and complete my blog entry. I cannot remember when is the last assignment I had after I graduated from poly more than 2 years ago. Stress leh! If you were to ask someone who is born in the 90s about something in the 60s that inspires us, it is like going OMG…What are there in the 1960s? But fret not, I have already thought of what to write. Hint: London. I will be going to London next week to find my inspiration for my blog entry so please stay tune for my blog post yeah. 🙂

I felt really shy and embarrassed to ask people to vote for me and I took awhile and finally muster my courage to share this news with my friends and type out this blog post. Since I am already in this competition so I should just give in my best shot, right? You need to register an account to vote and you have 1 vote per category per day which means you can vote for me EVERYDAY. :p Here is the link to vote – Thank you so much!

The 10 Main Award Category Winners will each receive a trip to Northern Territories, Australia, inclusive of airfare and accommodation. Winning the prizes is secondary, I really hope I can win the Best Travel Blog because it will be a huge recognition and mega boost for me to continue blogging. I have brief period of enthusiasm (三分钟热度) and it is an amazing feat for me to maintain this blog for about 2 years long. I am passionate about travel and I love what I am doing. I am grateful that I have all these wonderful opportunities to travel to places that I can ever dream of and made friends with a great bunch of awesome peeps who made flying not so lonely. And of cos, I am thankful to my lovely boy who has supported my decision. It is not easy for him to have a girlfriend being constantly away and only spend about 8 days in a month in Singapore. Love <3

Many thanks to those friends who have voted for me! Much appreciated! 🙂

    Visit Sri lanka
    Sri Lanka: A ‘Resplendent Land’
Sir Arthur C. Clarke – a long time resident of Sri Lanka – once said:
“The Island of Sri Lanka is a small universe containing as many variations of culture, scenery and climate as some countries a dozen times her size…”
The island widely dubbed as the pearl of the Indian Ocean is a tiny tropical paradise where you can discover anything from golden sun-kissed beaches, mist-shrouded mountains, awe-inspiring ancient monuments to sprawling wildlife parks and lush rain-forests.
Sri Lanka’s history whispers of tales over 2600 years. Its pre-history consists of stunning temples, manmade reservoirs and monasteries.
The “Lost paradise” considered by many globe trotters is filled with amazing cultural treasures where Portuguese, Dutch and British have all left their footprints here. With varying climates and adventures packed within few miles of each other, Sri Lanka offers an array of experiences from the top of the mountains to depths of the oceans.
Despite its fame as a seductive tourist destination in the universe, Sri Lanka’s splendor lies with its people. Tea Drinking people in Sri Lanka are famed for their pleasing smiles with big hearts. Introduced to the nation by Colonial British, today the soil of Sri Lanka produces the world’s best tea. Sri Lanka also remains as one of the foremost exporters of high quality spices and precious stones across the world. Today it remains for producing the finest blue sapphires in the world. The country is also in the forefront in producing quality garment products for leading brands in Asia, Europe and the USA.
