Venice Revisited.

Venice, Italy

This is my second time to Venice and you can view the post on my first trip here. This is a place where you will want to come with your partner and of cos, I wish my boy was with me. Venice is one of the places that I want to bring my boy to visit one day.

Gondola ride

I have a hobby of collecting fridge magnets and I have collected many different types of magnets from around the world. My collection is still expanding… 🙂

Rialto Bridge
My batch girl Wei Li

We settled our dinner at one of the restaurants by the water. Lovely ambience!

Our main course

This is one of the best tiramisu I have tried so far. The tiramisu was soft and melts in my mouth and it goes well with the chocolate sauce. Yums!

This strawberry dessert was surprisingly delicious!

Piazza San Marco (St. Mark’s Square)

Venice at night is absolutely stunning and romantic. I just wish my boy was with me, holding hands and walking around aimlessly in this land of romance.

There are lots of restaurants on the square playing live classical music.

Villa Delle Palme

We stayed one night at Villa Delle Palme which is a B&B in Lido. It costs 100 euros for two for the one night stay. There was a strike and it shuts down much of the public transport network. It was also a real hassle to get to this island from the main island which takes about 30 minutes ferry ride. The hotel concierge recommended this B&B saying it was good and affordable but with the time and effort spent, we would rather pay more to stay in the main island.

We took the ferry back to the main island on the next day.

This cruise ship looks so nice!

Me & Wei Li

Venice – The holy shrine for lovers. I love you Venice… Will definitely be back for you again…

Italy: Lake Como and Milan (Day 2)

Day 2

Lake Como

I decided to venture Lake Como alone while the rest of the girls went to Venice. I had been to Venice on my first trip to Italy last september. I love Venice but I only want to go back there again with my boy. It is easy to travel from Milan to Lake Como with the cheap train ticket and approximately one hour traveling time.

Lake Como

I did not do much research prior to this trip and I really have no ideas how to navigate my way. The locals can only speak a little english and they are not helpful at all.

I have a very strong desire to explore Lake Como but my spirits were dampened by the heavy rain.

Found shelter at the restaurant and I ordered seafood spaghetti but seafood pizza was served instead. Sad! It was still raining heavily after an hour so I decided to head back to Milan.

One of the must-do’s in Milan is to visit the Duomo! I have heard many said that Duomo di Milano is arguably one of the most beautiful church in the world and it is true!

I like this snapshot of father and daughter lighting the candle. 🙂

I must say Duomo di Milano is really huge and impressive!

Milan is the heaven for branded goods lover and you can go to Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, right next to the Duomo for shopping!

And of cos, I succumbed to the temptations again in Milan….

Italy: Verona (Day 1)

Day 1

Verona, Italy

This is my second time to Italy and it is also is one of my favorite countries. I like italian architecture and of cos the italian cuisine. We took an one and half hour train ride from Milan to Verona. Verona is famous as the setting for Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

Verona Arena

Our first stop was The Arena.

This got to be one of the most interesting street performances I had seen so far.

Juliet’s Balcony

Our second stop was Juliet’s House (Casa di Giulietta), a popular romantic shrine to visit in Verona. If you can remember the scenes from the movie “Letters to Juliet”, this is the Juliet’s Balcony.

There is an unbelievable amount of chewing gum on the walls and I almost touched it unknowingly. Yucks!

I bought a love padlock from the souvenir store to lock it on the gate of Juliet’s House. I have always wanted to do it at the love bridges in Paris and Frankfurt but I couldn’t find any shops that sell padlocks.

Locking our love forever

Yeah! I finally locked a love padlock somewhere in this world.

I certainly hope I can still find my love padlock the next time I am here with my boy.

I also wrote our names on the wall. 🙂

Basilica di S. Anastasia

We had lunch at an Italian bistro.

Aperol Spritz

Aperol Spritz, a pretty popular cocktail in Italy to start a meal as it whets the appetite. Light and refreshing but I find it a little bitter. It is really easy to make and you can follow the recipe in this link if you want to try.

I ordered spaghetti with ham and I had pistachio gelato for dessert. The pistachio gelato was so nice! The italians make really good ice cream I must say!

– End of Day 1 –

Magical City of Romance – Venice, Italy

Venice, Italy

I have always wanted to visit Venice and I know I must not miss a visit to this beautiful city during my stay in Italy.

We headed out to catch the train to Venice immediately after touching down at Milan. It is really insane considering that the flight duration from Singapore to Milan is about 13 hours plus.

However, we manage to get some rest during the 3 hours train ride to Venice. The train ride to Venice was very scenic as we passed by many beautiful landscapes.

“Aaahhh.. This is the train station where Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp alighted at!” For a moment, I really thought that I was in the movie “The Tourist” when we arrived.

They don’t call this the city of romance for nothing. Was in great awe when we stepped out of the train station cos everywhere just looked like a movie setting.

Venice is so beautiful and my pictures are definitely not doing any justice to its charm.

We bought a map as we only have a few hours to explore this city. But seriously, the best way to explore Venice is losing your way to discover the charms of this mesmerizing city.

You can see how shag I look with my dark eye rings but it is all worth it.

I really wish that my boy will be with me the next time I am back here. It will be romantic to take an exclusive gondola ride for two.

Just the two of us mesmerizing in the moments of love in this magical city of romance..
